As we turn the page from one year to the next, I always enjoy reflecting and projecting. Reading above is more of a business discussion than a fitting discussion, and it is certainly relevant here. Everyone sits around on New Years Day and comes up with “Resolutions”. Most of then are like under cooked pasta – they don’t stick.
Reflecting can be fun. Reflecting can be painful. What did you do? What did you accomplish? Did you improve you from 2022? When you reflect, can you make the fun reflections better, and can you make the painful ones fun? Are these painful resolutions the source of your Resolutions for the coming year? They should be. Remember, learn and grow.
Personal resolutions are often easy to come up with. You reflect or look in the mirror, spot a problem and generate a resolution to address the needed change. What about your professional “resolutions”? Do you create a set of those as well?? Perhaps these are more important to your overall well being. Ask yourself how much of my stress comes from my personal life and how much comes from my professional life? For most people, the answer isn’t even close. Fellas, we don’t lose our hair because the grass isn’t cut.
2024 is time for you to be a new “Professional You”. What can you do better? Be honest. Pick 3 things. Pick two that you NEED to do and one that you WANT to do. Perhaps you need to be a better delegator. Maybe you need to teach an Assistant Professional how to run a tournament from top to bottom and then let him/her own it and do it. How much stress would this take off your plate? Perhaps you need to be more proactive with your Superintendent and your F&B Manager. What steps can you take to make this happen? Perhaps you want to return to the player you once were. Dream. Dream BIG. Breaking par. Playing in events and seeing your name at the top of the leaderboard again. Do the two needs help you achieve the want? Do the two needs help you achieve something at home? Does it put you in a better place with your GM or Board President or your spouse and kids. You thought you were already the best. Now you’re on a path to be an even better best.
Make a Resolution. Hold yourself accountable. Learn and grow.
Your work, your way.
