The Jim Yeager Golf Academy – Why I’m Starting this Blog

I’d like to start this new email with a thank you—for being a student and giving me the privilege of helping you with your golf game.

My plan with this forum is to provide you with some of the tips, tricks, and data that I’ve learned, read, and stumbled upon in my journey to become a more complete teacher and golf professional.

I write several emails weekly for my 9-5, but I wanted to write one just for you. A place where I can share things I think will make you a better golfer—and give you the context and the “why” behind them.

Please feel free to unsubscribe if it’s not for you.

Please feel free to comment.

Please feel free to ask for content you’d like to see.

Let me know what you like—and what you don’t. My goal is to keep these short, thought-provoking, and worth your time. Hopefully, you’ll look at the data or the lesson and say, “Wow, I never knew that,” or “I think I should practice this more.” Maybe you’ll be walking down a fairway with a friend and say, “You know what I read…”

Some of the posts will dive into the science behind a ball flight law. Others might unpack a quirky preference in the swing. Ideas will come from what I research, what I read, what I see in my role with Callaway, and what I observe in lessons.

All of it will be interesting—at least to me. Hopefully to you, too.

I’ve come to really love teaching. More than I ever expected. The most rewarding part? Watching players shoot better scores. Over time, I’ve learned something important:

Most players already have a swing that’s good enough.

What they don’t have is a short game that’s anywhere close to good enough.

And almost no one putts well enough to shoot the scores they dream about.

Worse yet? Most players don’t know how to actually play golf.

That’s where I want to help.

Jim Yeager, PGA

👉 Up Next: We’ll dive into data around wedge and putting performance — and I’ll show you exactly where most players are giving away strokes.
